Gaurav is a famous Indian stand-up comedian with unique story-telling skills and a YouTuber. He was born on November 30, 1987, in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India. He completed his secondary education at Sumermal Jain Public School in Janakpuri, New Delhi. He went to 'Maharaja Agrasen College, University of Delhi' to pursue his Bachelor of Arts Hons degree in Journalism. Later, he did a Master's in Fashion Management at the 'National Institute of Fashion Technology.' His father is Yugal Kapoor, and his mother is Sunita Kapoor. He has a sister named Kritika Kapoor and two brothers named Prateek Kapoor and Kritik Kapoor. He married Shreya Sharma on February 28, 2017.
Before working as a comedian, GauravKapoor worked as a retail planner at 'Reliance Brands Limited' in Mumbai. He was responsible for preparing & circulating weekly & monthly reports, coordinating with stores, logistics & channels partners, handling inter-stores transfers, preparing the Open-To-Buy plan (OTB), and many more. Gaurav Kapoor also worked for international brands like Timberland, Quiksilver, Thomas Pink, and Dune. After that, he engaged as assistant manager at 'Celio' in Mumbai. He was responsible for handling, planning, and merchandising more than 160 stores, including SIS and EBOs. Later, Gaurav worked as an assistant manager at 'Pantaloons' in Mumbai for almost three years. He worked as a marketing intern at 'Genesis Luxury Fashion Private Limited' in Gurgaon. He worked for high and luxury brands such as Canali, Jimmy Choo, Armani, Bottega Venetta, etc. He has also worked with organizations like Asian News International, My Mobile Magazine, and The Hindu in various Journalism roles, including feature writing, copy editing, reporting, proofreading, etc.
In 2015, he started visiting several open mics around Mumbai. He also won many open mic competitions in the Mumbai circuit, including Canvas Laugh Club, Big Mic, Chalta Hai, and Buzz Off. Gaurav got his big break when he opened the show for the well-known Canadian stand-up comedians such as Vir Das and during their 'Almost Famous world Tour' in Delhi. Since then, he has done many live shows and uploaded many stand-up comedy videos on his YouTube channel on topics like Rich People, Smartphones and Passwords, Lifebuoy and Nano, Destinations Weddings, and many more. In July 2018, his solo stand-up special titled "Hahakaar" premiered on Amazon Prime Video. In 2020, he also joined the show "Amazon Funnies," a laughter fest that featured fourteen prominent Indian stand-up comedians, where he performed a ten-minute set on the show.
