Ramakrishna Yadav ( Swami Ramdev ) is an Indian yoga-master. He contributed in the field of Yogasana and Pranayama Yoga . Ramdev himself organizes yoga camps from place to place, in which people from almost every community come. Ramdev has so far taught yoga directly or indirectly to crores of people in the country and abroad. He co-founded Patanjali Ayurveda Limited with his colleague Balakrishna . In 2010, he announced the formation of a political party for the 2014 general election . However, he has recently become a vocal supporter of the Bharatiya Janata Party .
Biography
Ramdev's real name was Ramakrishna Yadav Born in the year 1965 to Gulabo Devi and Ramnivas Yadav in a village named Ali Saidpur, located in Mahendragarh district of Haryana state in India . After completing his studies up to eighth grade from the government school in the nearby village of Shahzadpur, Ramakrishna studied Vedas, Sanskrit and Yoga from Acharya Pradyumna and Yogacharya Baldev ji in a Gurukul in Khanpur village. Ramakrishna resolved to take sanyasa at a young age and became popularly known as Baba Ramdev.
Entry into public life
Baba Ramdev established the Divya Yog Mandir Trust in 1995. From 2003, Aastha TV started showing yoga program of Baba Ramdev every morning after which many supporters joined him. Baba Ramdev played an important role in taking yoga to the masses, many big personalities including common people have also participated in his yoga camps in India and abroad. Among those who learned yoga from Baba Ramdev are the names of actor Amitabh Bachchan and actress Shilpa Shetty . Baba Ramdev addressed the Muslim community for the first time in Deoband (Uttar Pradesh).
Patanjali Yogpeeth
Baba Ramdev established Patanjali Yogpeeth to promote Yoga and Ayurveda. There are two branches of Patanjali Yogpeeth in Britain, America, Nepal, Canada and Mauritius too, Patanjali Yogpeeth-one and Patanjali Yogpeeth-two. Patanjali Ayurved had a turnover of Rs 5000 crore in 2015-16.
Major works of Swami Ramdev
In 2006, Swami Ramdev established two service projects named Patanjali Ayurveda Limited, a state-of-the-art drug manufacturing unit, in addition to Patanjali Yogpeeth Trust in Maharishi Dayanand village Haridwar. Through these service projects, Swami Ramdev is propagating Yoga, Pranayama, spirituality etc. as well as Vedic education and Ayurveda. His discourses are broadcast on various TV channels like Aastha TV , Aastha International, Zee-Network, Sahara-One and India TV. Corruption in India and Italy and SwitzerlandBaba also traveled one lakh kilometers across India, demanding to bring back home the "black money" of about 400 lakh crore rupees deposited in the banks of India. Baba Ramdev Ji's continuous fight against corruption is going on and he is also playing a major role in nation building. Apart from this, Swami Ramdev also participated in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Not only this, he announced the adoption of Haridwar and the pilgrimage city of Rishikesh under this campaign.
Fast against corruption
When Baba Ramdev held a public meeting at Ramlila Maidan on February 27, 2011 , along with Swami Agnivesh , Anna Hazare also reached that public meeting. After this, from 5 April 2011 at Delhi 's Jantar Mantar, Anna Hazare announced a fast unto death with Satyagraha , in which Baba Ramdev also participated for a day. Baba Ramdev announced Satyagraha with fasting from 4 June 2011 at Delhi 's Ramlila Maidan. Satyagraha on 4th June 2011 at 7 amStarted. At night, Baba Ramdev was sleeping with his colleagues on the huge stage built in the pandal. Hearing the screams, he jumped down from the stage and entered the crowd. Till 10 am on June 5, 2011, the market of rumors regarding Baba remained hot. This process came to an end in the afternoon when Baba, after reaching Haridwar , gave a press conference at Patanjali Yogpeeth and told the whole story of his escape.

Baba Ramdev organizes yoga camps from time to time. Through his yoga camps, Baba Ramdev is working to spread the importance of Indian culture and yoga to people in foreign countries as well. Moving forward in this sequence, he visited Australia and propagated Indian culture and yoga, due to which people there were greatly influenced by him. Baba Ramdev has a resolution that the whole country should be healthy and in order to make the whole country healthy, Baba Ramdev has now started teaching yoga to the soldiers of the army. Which he started by teaching yoga to the jawans in Jaisalmer. Apart from this, Baba Ramdev also organized yoga camps for soldiers and their families in Delhi.
Honor
Swamiji was awarded an honorary doctorate by Berhampur University .
For two consecutive years , India Today magazine and other top magazines of the country included Ramdev in the list of 50 most influential and influential people of the country.
Many institutions and governments of India and abroad have also given prestigious honors to Swamiji including Global Knowledge Millennium Honor by ASSOCHAM .
Swamiji was decorated with the honorary title of Mahamahopadhyaya by the National Sanskrit University , Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh.
Honorary Doctorate was awarded to Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev by Graphic Era University .
Awarded D.Sc.(Hons.) by Amity University, Noida in March, 2010 .
In April 2010, he was awarded the degree of D.Sc.(Hons.) in Yoga by D.Y.Patil University .
In January 2011, Baba Ramdev was appointed by the Governor of Maharashtra, K.K. The Chandrashekharanand Saraswati Award was presented by Sankaranarayan .
